The Belle Épopée
Discovery of a unique and exceptional tourist circuit !
- The île Verte Lighthouse, the oldest built lighthouse in the St. Lawrence River (1809). The landscapes and the view of the north coast and the river mouth of the Saguenay are beautiful. There is a fascinating museum, telling the story of the lighthouse and its various guardians. At the end of the visit, you will be able to access the lighthouse lantern and admire the scenery from the top of the tower.
- The Michaud School, is an exhibition showing, in a very interesting way, the life of the islanders from yesterday to today. The importance of certain activities for people of the island, such as sea moss, which has disappeared the 1930s, weir fishing, navigation between the island and the mainland and the Archaeological discoveries made on île Verte a few years ago.
- The Skeleton Museum, a unique and surprising museum in Quebec, an achievement by biologist Pierre-Henry Fontaine, where you will discover with a remarkable collection of more than 300 skeletons, the evolution of animals through the various adaptations related to the environment and the survival of species.
CIRCUIT 2 - DURATION : 7 HOURS
The Grande Virée
Explore our île Verte and its magnificent landscapes.
Come to discover the île Verte in all its splendor. Take your whole day. We will show you our beautiful île Verte as you've never seen it on board of our green powered electric vehicle.
Our Grande Virée will take you on a tour from one end to the other of our beautiful île Verte, Bout-d'en-Bas to the Bout-d'en-Haut, from north to south (circuit of 15 kilometers). It includes a commented ride exploring amazing sights of our environment. You will learn more about the lifestyle of islanders of yester years and the ones of today.
Book early to ensure your place on board.
- A meal stop is scheduled during the day, we will drive you to a restaurant or if you prefer, you can bring your lunch.
- The Grande Virée payment must be made in cash. That of La Belle Épopée can be done by credit card at Michaud School.
SCHEDULE AND BOOKING
The schedule of the two circuits, La Grande Virée and La Belle Épopée, is adjusted according to the ferry's schedule and mainly according to the days identified in orange on the schedule where there is a possibility of crossing in the morning and at the end of the day.
Reservation requests must be transmitted, as soon as possible, at least 24 hours beforehand.
TIMELY TRIPS
We offer the possibility of commuting on the island, starting at $5 per person, depending on the distance traveled. We can also carry your luggage or bicycle at half price ($5 minimum).
